Brassiere is one of the most sensuous garment. Even before 1900s, there is evidence of garments that could be considered as bras.
The modern bra with its separate cups was evolved from the corset as a comfortable underwear.
The bra functions as a support garment to limit the motion of the breast and it serves to redistribute the pressure of breast weight to the shoulder and back. A bra is designed to lift the breast and take the weight off the ligaments preventing sagging.
And even it should be comfortable, that it should give a proper fit, about 70% women wear wrong bra size.
Making a perfect fit bra is quite daunting task, given that, the bra is a close fitting garment and must shape the upper body that it supposed to feel like a second skin.
This book teaches you the basic drafting of the brassiere pattern and how to make a perfect bra for your own styles.
