Researching a National School Teacher in Ireland
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
This work offers a detailed account of the extant records as well as an in-depth description of how to trace the career of a teacher AND some students in nineteenth century Ireland. Although the focus is on the Republic, transcripts cover Northern Ireland as well. Paid pupil monitors, who were actually young students, are also examined. These records are a bonus as this 'occupation' would not have been noted in any of the coventional records as the monitors would have been listed only as 'scholars' or 'pupils' (ie:in a census); thus, an important work even if your forbear was not known to have been a teacher. Research examples as well as transcriptions of monitor's records are included. The publication of 'Records Generated by the Comissioners of National Education' will soon follow (March '08) and enhance the success of the serious researcher of Irish Family History.
