Never has such a friendly cover been such a secret weapon. While the analogies of the author are sometimes almost a little too fanciful for my stodgy taste, I can see where these could be useful in dealing with people who believe in angels and astrological signs. After all, atheists need a bit of a brand improvement, being the least-trusted minority in United States, the one fewest parents would want to marry their daughter, the one least likely to gain the Presidency. This brand improvement is helped significantly with the advent of this book. As an atheist activist at my community college (I got into Stanford from said community college with a full-ride, before you think I'm not qualified due to starting on an alternative path) I have manned many "Ask An Atheist" tables, where we fielded question after question from curious believers who didn't really know what atheists were or how to recognize them in the wild. Let me tell you, every question we were asked at that table... More > is addressed here in Manda's handy book. I'm tempted to bring it to the next atheist table with me and just hand it to anyone who opens their mouth, but I rather enjoy talking to people. Ultimately, Manda delivers a series of arguments by analogy and other methods which elaborate exactly why atheists find creationists and other religious practitioners (even you, spiritual people and ghost believers) to be, if not necessarily irrational, selectively rational at best. Her words are forthright, in-your-face, here's-what-you're-trying-to-shove-down-my-throat logical, and possessed of a childlike delight in the world. The God Delusion may have been extremely comprehensive, but it was full of lots of English fluff (I love fluff), whereas One Less God is chapter-and-verse sock it to 'em religious kryptonite. Everyone I know is getting a copy of this.< Less
