One of the best series of stories about Lestrade I have ever encountered. The textures of Victorian London are woven throughout. The original characters are a delight to read about. And the glimpses of Holmes and Watson are delicious. Well worth your time. And the sequel is too!
Absolutely brilliant. The author provides a look at London through the eyes of those who know it best: the men charged with keeping it safe! I can guarantee you'll be constantly amazed by the level of depth presented in both descriptions and characterization. Wilson breathes life into characters even the most avid of Holmesians probably never looked twice at (like Inspector Youghal), while giving form to the rough sketches of others (namely Inspectors Lestrade, Bradstreet and Gregson) provided by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The plots provided are entertaining and extremely well thought out. This is by far the most enjoyable pastiche I have read. It is easy to see when an author is passionate about what they're writing, and that is entirely the case here. I highly recommend this wonderful book and eagerly await another! ~ K. Perry
