The farmer’s voice and history is left out of most food discussions, including the debate and policy-making that goes on in our state and national capitols. McMillen explores, with a farmer’s point-of-view, the decisions being made on a global scale that affect what you can buy at the store, including the quality and the price.

The relaxed conversational style makes this book fun and easy to read. But don't let the style fool you. This is a serious work, packed with facts, figures, and scary truths most of us never think about at all. The operative word in the title is FOOD. Everyone who eats has a vested interest in farming and the politics of farming. It's easy to tell McMillen is an expert on her subject matter.
