This book includes the stories of seven different convicts who arrived on Australian soil between 1796 and 1844: Thomas BAGGOTT, Esther SALAMON SPENCER, Patrick MULLALLY, Edward GARRETT, Thomas DAVY, George SHERRIFF and Thomas RILEY. The stories were written by Andrew Black, Janelle Collins, Dot Elder, Ros Escott, Jennifer Goodwin, Gill McMillan and Maria Northcote. The stories recorded in this book represent years and years of research that have been spent tracking down the details of these convicts’ lives. Most of these stories were first shared in October 2012 on the Genies Down Under podcast; a podcast that focuses on family history research with an Australian twist (http://www.geniesdownunder.com.au/). The convicts in this book came from England and Ireland. They are all very different characters with rich lives both in their homelands and in their new home, Australia. There are six male convicts and one female convict featured in the pages of this book. We hope you enjoy our stories.
