Marianne, my dearest friend... As you know, from our work together, I have read your book many, many times during the editing and formatting process. This is a beautiful, heart wrenching story that everyone should read. I have lost children and loved ones, too, but under very different circumstances from those you have encountered. And, even though our situations differ greatly, your book has helped me, too... I admire you greatly for having the strength and courage to share this deeply personal tragedy with the world. Your story has helped me see beyond my own inner grief and has lifted a heavy burden from my heart which I have been carrying for many, many years. Thank you! Always & Forever, Violet

I finished the book in one day and have been thinking of it ever since. It was lovely, sad, funny, and extremely insightful. You are a very strong person to be able to put your thoughts down so beautifully. I can't imagine how you had the strength to write it. Loved the title too! — Dixie Nolte I will also recommend this book. I walk in Marianne's shoes so appreciate it very much! — D. DeRosse Bussa Marianne, I just finished A New Pair Of Socks. I started at 7PM and finished at 10PM. It was so beautifully written, I felt like he was here with me while I read it. It reminded me how much I miss him and how much he has touched so many lives, including mine. I was devastated that I couldn't make it out to his funeral and felt like I didnt get any closure, but your book has given that to me. He was so lucky to have you in his life, you are truly a remarkable women. I would love to get together some time soon. Thank you for this gift that you have shared with all of us. He will forever be... More > remembered and never forgotten. My cousin commited suicide eight years ago and it was one of the hardest things I had to go through (he was also on meth like Ryan). He was one of my best friends, so I took it extra hard. I had so many questions, like, "What could I have done?" If I would have just gone over to his house few hours earlier would that have made a difference? Your book has made me realize hat it wouldn't have; he wanted to be at peace with himself and this was his only way out. I can only thank you again for writing this book. It has filled my heart in places that have been empty for 8 years now. I am ever so grateful! — A. East I don't know how you were able to write this book. I am amazed. I could not put the book down as it brought so many enlightening moments to my mind. I am very grateful for the book and all that it encompasses. Again, I just wonder how you were able to accomplish this. Thank you for your beautiful story and I will keep this as a treasure. — L. Lueders I just finished your book and I find it very beautiful, touching, and hopeful. I am now working on seeing life in a different light. I related to so many feelings you identified. I would give anything to just know Tom is OK. I know he's with God and in heaven but I am going to pray for God's will for me and if He sees fit, he will show me. I know many who are in recovery from this disease of addiction, including myself, and I pray that your book will help reach out to others. It did to me. The promise is freedom, the message is hope! No person need suffer alone! We do recover. I feel so much of what you went through. It's amazing that two families can share such similar situations. You are helping me understand where my mother is today. She is not well. She always says, "I'm so sorry I lost my only son." Now, by reading your book, I am understanding that she is going through what you went through. It will be two years on September 5th. My mom wanted to die at first and jump right in with Tom, too. All my love to you and your family. I can't wait to meet you Marianne! Your book is truly amazing and inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing your story of courage, love, loss, and hope! Your book is going to touch the lives of millions! Even if someone hasn't lost a child, it's such an inspiration for recovery! God is so good and he has people like us doing work for Him to make the world a better place. Even if I help one person today I know I've made the day a better one. A New Pair of Socks is an inspirations to anyone who suffers from loss or addiction and is looking to begin healing, to live again, and to have hope! — M. Brophy-Lee Your book is great! I cried through most of it. Then I didn't want it to end! I will definitely be recommending this book. Thank you! — L. Bartholomay I too read it and consumed it the day the book arrived. I went through a myriad of emotions and feelings: of awe and wonder, brokenness and upward soaring, and spiraling moments, descending into depths of despair and darkness, emerging back into the light, to divine love brought to Marianne and given over and over. Miracles and grace in tandem. God created Ryan infused with his spirit, his wisdom, his love, his message(s). Just like in the movie Titanic, as the song says, "Love will go on and on/it never dies." — S. Burrows Hi, I read your book. I heard about it from Glenn Klausner. It really touched me. My Ryan Michael passed last November and your book... well, it hit my heart. I will recommend the book as well. I'm very glad I read it. — D. Duke< Less
