Albert Camus was born on 7 November 1913 in Drean (then known as Mondovi) in French Algeria to a Pied-Noir settler family; he was a French Algerian author, philosopher, journalist and footballer who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1957. He was a key philosopher of the 20th-century and his most famous work is the novel L'Étranger (The Stranger).
