Trees do many wonderful things. They provide much-needed shade in New Orleans’ hot and humid summers, temper heavy rains, renew our air supply, and make places beautiful. The Sexy Trees of the Marigny Calendar was created by Marigny resident and artist Candy Chang for Marigny Green, a neighborhood volunteer committee of the Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association. Marigny Green promotes sustainable living through local initiatives on tree planting, biking, energy-efficient lighting, and recycling. Marveling at the sexiness of a Live Oak Tree (now featured for the month of July), Candy photographed local trees including a Crape Myrtle, Southern Magnolia, and the unique Mardi Gras bead specimen, to promote Marigny Green's great work. The photographs are exceptional especially the way the light reflects on the trees. This is a very clever calendar for a good cause. I ordered a bunch for out of town friends for the holidays. Kathryn
