"Pale Primroses by Marjorie O'Hara" Pale Primroses by Marjorie O’Hara Reviewed by Georgina Wordsworth : 13th March 2007 posted by Marjorie O'Hara This is a highly unusual storey told in a very original way Set in the mid 15th century in a small village in Suffolk, the storey unfolds through a series of Depositions given by the persons concerned before the Court Leet of the village – It hinges on the amazing likeness of two young girls who may be related a generation back This all comes to light when an old chest is dug up by a modern builder when altering a cottage in Lavenham. In the chest is a locket containing a whisp of pale gold hair and a will together with three statements , all written out by the Clerk of the Court . The final document is the Decision of the Court Leet What a very unusual a storey; and so authentically is the speech of the time invoked. This is a most fascinating book, a real page-turner.
