Twenty years of standing up to the forces of a world determined to silence anyone uttering things contrary to the accepted order. Rossi is a voice that refuses to cry in the wilderness. He marshals the momentum of unvarnished truth until you learn to embrace it and start dislodging your dented derriere from the fence. Writers, like Rossi, are few and far between in a culture of attention seeking glory hounds. He cares. In my opinion too much about making the world a better place for people to live a more fruitful existence. I am cynical and prefer not to subscribe to his common sense solutions to social justice or justice in general. He is an Artist in a time of sellouts. He is a Soldier in a time of cowards. He is a Judge in a time of politicians. He is a Prophet in a time of illogical hatred. He nearly makes me believe in concepts I refuse to take serious. However; I take this man serious precisely because he lives his words and acts on this ideas. Question the Quiet reminds me I... More > have more to do to live up to what he has set forth.< Less

When I first reviewed this work I had not yet finished the collection before I issued my terse blurb. Rossi is a friend from the Off-Broadway days of playwrighting, drinking and fighting about social ills of the time. Of course, most of his opinions are off base and mine are perfectly acceptable. He might say otherwise. As he should since his fearlessness is a hallmark of a firm constitution and a fierce cultural education. My concentration was on the short fiction and short nonfiction where I have always found Rossi to be the strongest and most revealing equally about himself and the society he cares deeply about. He is indeed a writer's writer who focuses more on the truth as he sees it than any artist I have encountered in five decades of writing and stage acting. Later his editor friends found and convinced him to include a number of quotations, published and unpublished, that again speak to the man who professes to belong to a simple minded belief in hard work, faith and service... More > to his country. This book again shows there is much more to his core than the jersey kid with an attitude.< Less

More than two decades ago I met Mr. Rossi and I did not agree with much of what he said or wrote. I found it too assertive and maybe overzealous. Yet decades later his predictions regarding technology, personal responsibility and the world order turned out to be indeed correct. Rossi is a social writer above all else. And it is a hidden fact that he played a hand in helping to ban human cloning in the United States. For a man with such a forceful personality I am continuingly amazed on how discrete and modest he is in many of these historical events. His writing, lobbying, testifying and outright protesting some of the most pressing matters of modern times deserves a book in its own right. For now I will promote and salute this astute selection of biting satire, poetic candor and provocative quotations.

I highly endorse this enlightening selection of Mark Antony Rossi's writings. Contained within are some of his most powerful verse and striking visions in the past twenty years of his writing career. He's one of the few writers who can convincingly convey political, spiritual, intellectual and poetical work and not sound like he fell from an ivory tower. The exciting but experimental inclusion of many of his quotes help reveal a man not only curious about the world but willing to stand up for the ideas and ideals he holds dear. I promise you will not encounter a book quite like this one. His notion of "questioning the quiet" is a bullseye assertion that challenges the portion of humanity remaining silent in the face of tyranny and censorship.
