I found this book compelling from start to finish. Sean nipwuds razor-sharp dialect coupled with his ever increasingly out of control lifestyle will ultimately stand him shoulder to shoulder with the most anti of heroes.Top marks all round.

I started reading this book a few months ago, it took a couple of chapters to get into the swing of it but after that I was hooked. When you first pick it up it seems as though it's really long but once you start reading it you can see why! I sped through this book (thanks to having a few hours spare everyday). Nipwud's character is a very cleverly constructed one. As each chapter goes by you swing between love and hate, empathy and apathy. There are characteristics that you can relate to, and you will see yourself in him in one way or another. That or you will know a Sean Nipwud! The plot is very much my kind of book, there's something for everyone. The loving family chapters, going out on... More >a rather wild stag do, dipping into how he occupies and entertains his restless mind (more often than not at the misfortune of others). All of the characters have been created individually and are all fantastic in their own right, from the lovable ones to the embarrassingly disgraceful... More > ones. This book is a mass of highs and lows, as Sean has a very bumpy journey back to reality. Superbly written with some of the best descriptive content I've perhaps ever read. Down to the smallest things, such as the very cleverly chosen chapter titles. Trust me, the blurb doesn't do it justice, since reading this I have struggled to find anything that comes even close to ticking as many boxes as this book does. The first few chapters are there to ease you in slowly, then it gets to the really good stuff. Each chapter more shocking than the last, right to the very end. I would without a doubt recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good read, it will certainly remain on my shelf for years to come and I would encourage everyone to give it a go, even if its not your usual read.< Less
