After the Bones. Honolulu. 1866. Paradise teeters on the verge of great change as world powers vie for strategic dominance in Hawai`i. Rogue agents, working within the British Consulate, initiate a conspiracy involving murder and deception to draw Great Britain into a forceful coup of the Hawaiian monarchy. Enter the menacing British assassin, Mr. Brown; two fugitives, Mac Ducain and Delaware Flinn; young American reporter, Mark Twain; and the venerated, old priestess, `Ike Kiwalao—all of whom become players in the intricate schemes threatening the island nation. But every plan is subject to mana—the mystical, spirit-power residing in the bones of the dead—and mana itself will determine the outcome.

"Great story. Great writing" I loved this book. The writing is beautiful, lyrical and the story is captivating. The struggle over deception and trust--which all the characters face--provides a great backdrop to an energetic tale of intrigue and adventure. I highly recommend this novel to all readers--whether they are planning a vacation to Hawaii or are sitting bundled up in their homes in the middle of a winter storm. This story will take you to an exotic place and time and give you a roller coaster ride. I loved especially the characters of `Ike, the Hawaiian sorceress, and Brown, the British assassin. Enjoy!
"After The Bones" Intrigue, suspense, a bit of history, Hawaiian folklore, romance; this wonderful novel by Mark Osmun has it all. As a former resident of the S.F. Bay Area, Oahu and now residing on the Big Island of Hawaii, I liked Osmun's references to familiar places where I've been. His superb character development had me cheering for the good guys and rooting for the demise of the villians. Just like the perfect golf shot, this book should be savored and enjoyed. Bruddahs & sistahs, 'dis one good kine story!
"AFTER THE BONES -- An Hawaiian Adventure Story!" What a great read! Takes us from Ford's Theater and the assasination of Lincoln to the Hawaiian Islands. Intrigue and excitement as our heroes are pursued from the bowels of a ship to the boiling edge of a volcano. Osmun is an artistic writer who paints a vivid image with each sentence. Fine writing and reading -- such a good book! JWRobinson

I will certainly be looking for more work by this surprisingly unkown author. A must share for any book club. David Elliott Waterford, Michigan
