The Diaries of Adam & Eve

ByMark Twain

A comic look at the lives of the first humans by that master of storytelling - Mark Twain - who claims these books to be ‘translated from the original’ The book is written in the style of a diary kept by the first man and woman in the creation story. The plot of this novel is the first-person account of Eve from her creation up to her burial by, her mate, Adam, including meeting and getting to know Adam, and exploring the world around her, Eden and subsequently after the fall. Adam's diary describes his side of the story and his frequent bafflement at Eve's behaviour. The book has a light and comic tone. Eve has a strong appreciation for beauty and love. The book may have been written as a posthumous love-letter to Mark Twain's wife Olivia who died just before the story was written. The book has 55 illustrations by Lester Ralph. These beautiful additions depict Eve and Adam in their natural settings.
