The Tide Goes Over

On the eve of his 50th birthday Michael Grant, seeking a spiritual revival, walks back into his past. His son Todd heads inland in search of a future while Michael's wife Jane, his daughter Sarah and his twin brother Gabriel fight their battles in the material world. To Gabriel, a government spy, victory or defeat in his world will determine the fate of all worlds. To Michael, a disillusioned public relations man, the spirit holds the key. Women from the past deflect the destinies of both father and son as the material and spiritual worlds merge. Other characters both complicate the journey and offer a path to salvation. The past lives in the present with the almost unspeakable burden of a waking dream. Mark Uhlmann's short stories and articles have appeared in Quadrant, The Canberra Times and other publications.
