The continuing story of Dan and Vadim is not terribly exciting. Once again, the first 200 pages are not much more than sexual exploration and some serious kinkster reading. There are a few events important to the story sprinkled throughout, and many new characters come and go (quite literally, too). The war focus eventually moves to the Balkans and Yugoslavia, and *then* the story becomes exciting again. The multitude of spelling and grammatical errors continue, but they are certainly improving. If there must be one fault, it is that there is too much smoking going on (almost every page sees Dan "fishing for his fags"), and too many thoughts sandwiched between what is actually happening. There's no need to give us deep, analytical thoughts from the characters so frequently and so fragmented at that. Part 2 is a small but noticeable improvement over Part 1.
