Celia’s Secret: A Journey towards Reconciliation

‘Celia’s Secret’ is a deeply personal account of the struggles emanating from of a family secret. Beginning in wartime Manchester in 1942, a time when rules and boundaries were set aside, Martha Ashwell explores how the secret impacted upon her childhood and remained a presence throughout her adult life. Through a process of reflection and understanding, Martha comes to accept and forgive the choices that were made and becomes reconciled with her much-loved mother.
