Oct 23, 2009From Out of the Pit—Awesome Poetic Articulation This is the second book by Mary Duhart in a continuation of a series regarding her belief in God and her expressions of His grace as a blessing in her life. The title, “From Out of the Pit,” resonates throughout the book. It sets the theme for the poems penned in the book. The theme is also consistent from the first poem to the last. The consistency of the theme keeps the reader in focus with the message and her prevailing thoughts in each poem. The book has a variety of poetic styles and forms created by a variety of poets. The glossary actually reflects a total of thirty-five poems with corresponding definitions. The definitions give an example one will find easy to remember and write from memory. They are very instructive, easily read, and not hard to understand. I have tried writing some of the poems based on the definitions and did not experience any problems. Each poem in the book has the specific name of that form listed in... More > parentheses under the title of the poem. This is very instructive because most poetry books do not have the name of the form listed below the title. This was always a mystery to many readers because they could not tell the form or style of the poem unless they possess prior knowledge of the poetic form or style. Mary Duhart has removed the mystery by listing the poetry form or style below each poem and has also listed the definition of the form in the glossary. This I have found to be very informative and instructive. The book also has a variety of pictures which accompany each poem. Additionally, a series of motifs are also outlined in the book, which makes the reading more interesting. The motifs are appealing to the eyes and enhance the essence of each poem. Normally, one does not find pictures in a book of poems which is another mystery; however, this book removes the mystery with a great selection of pictures and motifs to enhance the understanding of the poem by telling a thousand words. One will find the following poetic forms or styles in this book: Acrostic, Anaphora, Cameo, Candlelight, Daveda’s Cascade, English Pensee, Etheree, Daveda’s Charm, Christiana’s View, Haiku, Joseph’s Star, Hourglass, Lucky Leaf, Senryu, Shandorma, Tree of life, Whitney and others just to name a few. This is an excellent book written with a variety of poetry styles and forms. Mary Duhart has really focused on her message "From Out of the Pit" to the reader. She has truly poured her heart out in this newly released book. One must read it to appreciate it. The theme is very persuasive.< Less

Oct 9, 2009From Out of the Pit by Mary Ann Duhart She found herself in a deep pit. Knowing that there was one way out; faith needed to be strong for it. Of this fact, Mary had no doubt. Questioned how she got in so deep. Why did Satan have a strong grip? The way out would be very steep; it would be hard work not to slip. Mary took hold of what was done; knew with her faith, she had to be. With God by her side she had won. Praising the Lord had set her free! ~*~ ©Daveda Gruber, author of eight books. October 8, 2009. Mary’s struggle to get out of the pit was a trying experience. Read the book to feel her anguish and later her relief when she was free.
Oct 9, 2009This book by Mary Ann Duhart is FANTASTIC poetry at its best and I am so happy to have been given the work of cover designing and manuscript formatting ... I only hope that others see my work as a worthy tribute to Mary's words ... Pat Simpson
