Licentious Child

ByMary Nease

Excerpt: It was… exhilarating — there was no other word for it. Though I was no longer in the shape of the wolf, its blood still ran hot within me. My heart was beating faster than it ever had before and my skin tingled from the cool night air hitting where warm fur had been but a second before. I looked around me and the world seemed so fresh and, and… new, as if I had never truly perceived it previous to that moment... I had to wonder, was it right for me to feel that way? Lying naked in that field, I had never felt so right before in my life. Yet before I was attacked, I hadn’t ever desired to run wild or… lie naked in a field — to lie naked anywhere! Was this the wolf, or had something changed within me? Did the wolf change who I was, or simply (dare I say it) set me free?
