Semantics rethought from first principles. Not easy reading, but lots of new ideas, or traditional ideas in a new light. Skip the math at the first reading, is my suggestion. I wonder how Philosophy of language will react to this "attack".

I recently read this at a friend's. I have an alternative title for the book: 'Semantics can be a hard science, after all !' The style makes for rapid understanding, but it is unlike anything I read sofar. You have reasonings, mixed with far fetched examples of language use, plus home assignments (!) and some math. The math part is in fact elementary and gently explained - but I know that some people are put off by ANY amount of math! To wrap it up, lots of food for thought for the inquisitive reader.
