I'm planning a trip in October, so I went to the source I know and trust--the Pivní Filosof. It's extremely rich in detail but chatty and accessible. As someone largely ignorant of Czech beers, I felt enormously more familiar with what I'll find when I hit Prague.
I have followed Max's website for a few years and loved his descriptions of Prague. This year we took our vacation to Prague and one of my first acts was to purchase this book in preparation of our travels. The book is a great reference for the great pubs of Prague, not the tourist traps. The money saved by not buying overpriced beer at the tourist traps alone justifies the purchase price. Written in prose and very entertaining, it captures the spirit of Prague. I highly recommend buying this book and vacationing in this amazing city.
