Holbrook on the Clinch 1798-2005 (Third Edition)

ByMaxwell ErvinHelen Holbrook Thomas

As the title implies, emphasis is on those early descendants of John Holbrook and his two wives, one of whom was Mary Cooksey, who remained “on the Clinch” in Southwest Virginia, although a limited amount of information is included on those children of John who moved on to Kentucky. Also, some earlier information on the Holbrook line is provided as background. Information is included on allied pioneer families of Jordan, Phillips, Wheeler, Derifield, Kennedy, Stallard, Hall, Kiser and many others. The book includes a lengthy introductory summary, and a detailed genealogy modified register with extensive notes and narrative, with index. Appendices include a B&W photo display of 94 pages and 79 pages of early documents. This Third Edition adds newly discovered Holbrook descendants, correction and addition of data, including a never before published history of the Wheelers of Russell Co., twelve additional pages of photographs, and importantly, an index to the register, replacing the descendants chart.
