Jun 30, 2015So inspiring! Megan pours her heart out in this book. Having lived a similar story, I felt inspired to continue on my tough journey to full healing in Christ while also advocating for others. Megan's story is such inspiration as she uses all she has been through and learned to reach out and help others. She has such a great heart. If you are looking for encouragement in the messy of life after abuse, then this is the book for you. Read it and then pass it on to another abuse survivor.
May 8, 2015This is a thoughtful and insightful essential for anyone who is in an abusive relationship, has left an abusive relationship, or knows someone who is being or has been abused. Megan has packed a small book with large amounts of vulnerability, wisdom, and hope.
Apr 20, 2015This book is a breath of fresh air! I wish that it had been a required text back when I was working on my counseling degree. It has opened my eyes to the perspective of the abused person and to how I should respond to them. This book screams compassion and gives a fresh look at Christ's relationship to his children. Also, the concept of "self-talking" has been helpful in relation to how I mother my children. Thank you Megan for being brave enough to share your experience and the wisdom you have gained from it.
Feb 24, 2015This book is very precious to me! It has been so valuable and helpful to me in so many ways. I've been abused in several ways by different men in my life from childhood to being an adult and the memories and traumatic experiences have started to surface here lately. Reading this book has helped me to know it's okay to go get help and talk about what happened. That counseling is a good thing and not something for just "crazy" people. Without reading this book, I'm not sure I would have considered counseling and now I've been doing it for four weeks and I finally feel this freedom to get it out of my body and release it to God. I've been so good at just hiding the pain away for so long. It doesn't need to stay there. Parts in the book have also helped me in ways to be a better mommy. I'm so very thankful for this book and for the author, Megan ❤️ This book will not only be beneficial to those who've been abused or going through it now, but also for people on the outside... Dec 8, 2014This book fills a great void in the Body of Christ. While there are several books out there dealing with domestic violence, very few give victims such practical steps to healing. I love Megan's straightforward approach and practical insight. I deeply appreciate the way she challenges the church on this issue. As a former spokesperson for a DV shelter and a biblical counselor, I have often seen churches add insult to injury by esteeming broken marriage covenants over precious lives, and I have seen too many victims come under scrutiny when they finally got up enough nerve to reveal the abuse to a pastor. As Megan aptly notes it makes no sense "as to why a perfectly sane, honest woman is all of a sudden a liar when it comes to the abuse she is suffering at the hands of her husband… NOW, she is doubted, questioned and treated like a squeaky, high-pitched crazy woman who is crying wolf (P.66)." Unfortunately, she hits the nail right on the head. Churches must recognize the... More > devastating reality of abuse in their midst, and as hard as it is to believe they must learn how to deal with it effectively. Abuse thrives in the shadows of secrecy, but the church has a mandate to expose these deeds of darkness (Eph. 5:11). Precious lives are at stake, and without knowledge they will surely perish. This book is a wonderful way to arm yourself with important knowledge that could not only save lives, but bring healing to wounded souls. Thank you Megan!< Less
