This collection is everything I had expected it to be. Melanie Browne writes with obvious care, saying just enough--in language that is rich and descriptive, but always accessible--to get her point across. Her view of life is fresh and unique, her work imbued with a wicked sense of humor, playfulness, wonder at the goings-on around her. Even when a poem takes a sudden, unexpected twist at the end, it feels right, the only way that poem could have ended in her hands. I haven't enjoyed a book of poetry this much, cover to cover, since Franz Douskey's "Rowing Across the Dark" and recommend it highly.
