"EUIAO by Melissa Bowling" I found this quite an entertaining read but it's lightweight and not without its flaws. I read it all the way through without giving up which I don't manage to do with a lot of books that I start. When someone invents a new system of space travel a lot of politicing and shinanigans go on which continue when someone claims that the hand of God has stopped the spacecraft in its tracks. The most appealing character is the super intelligent monkey Sheila who communicates through paintings and sign language. I would like to have read more about her. On the down side there some very implausible, almost cartoonesque moments such as when a guinea pig is mysteriously sent by fax and turns up in Taiwan. Also the author does not seem to know that much about astronomy or space travel. Overall I thought it was good value as a download for £2.22 but the UK price of £8.68 for a printed book is very high even without the shipping cost. Although there... More > are over 300 pages the pages are small and the print size is large so that it is actually quite a short book. The full price in a bookshop for a fairly substantial paperback by an established author is only £7.99. If the author wants to promote EUIAO as a print book it might be better to reformat it onto a larger page size with smaller print to reduce the cost.< Less
