An American Fighting Man

ByMerry HelmJohn Belgarde

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
This is not a memoir, it is a raw factual account of one man's experience in combat. It begins the day a 19 year-old PFC leaves the States and ends 9 months later when he walks off his last hill in Korea as a Master Sergeant leading 40 men. This is a true account of a teenager who survives unbelievable odds in brutal conditions, always outnumbered, fighting on some of the most worst terrain ever experienced by American infantrymen. Belgarde didn't know he was a leader until he was in the battlefield, where he emerged as an agressive, committed rifleman who lived "12 hours at a time." Believing he would not make it out alive, he lived by three rules: 1) I will do the best I can as long as I can; 2) I will not surrender; 3) I will let no one surrender me. This account is for those who have been in combat and also for those who want to understand the experience and the extreme conditions that challenge survivors of war and leaders of men. Large-print edition.
