I am very appreciative of the review by Ranger Simmons; that he would make a comment 32 years after the event. When there are book sales, all profit goes to the USA Ranger Association and the fine work they do.

I had the opportunity to know General Childers in Ranger school.I remember our first 2 mile run early one cold morning. I was intent upon completeing the run first ,but coming up from behind me was Colonel Childers .He passed me and my Ranger buddy up and I was running hard as I could so as this old guy couldnt beat me and my Ranger buddy was right on my heels. To no avail he finished first and me second and my Ranger buddy third and then mins later others started flowing in.I was amazed at Ranger Childs for his achievemnet.I have read his book and it is a really good insight of Ranger training . It is a good read for the young man who is interested altho times have changed but the course is similar to the way it was back then. And also a good read for the veteran Ranger wanting to bring back some good memories. Hooo ahhhh Class 6-81 Rangers lead the way!!!!
