Mia McCullough's book, Transforming Reality, is a gem I can read again & again. While I am not a Writer, I write. The thrust of the message is disguised in how writers can, as the subtitle says, overcome the difficulties and dilemmas of creative writing. I am an artist and this book is speaking to that quite clearly. We hit walls. We self sabotage. We are triggered by fear. We judge ourselves. Harshly. This is a beautifully simple series of fabulous tools and advice to help me get out of my own way. I highly recommend it. You can pick it up, read a few pages, put it down and come back later or voraciously devour the entire book in a short amount of binge-read time. It can live on my shelf so when I hit that same old wall that keeps building itself, I can grab it, refresh, and knock that fecker down. If you're a Chicagoan, I suggest supporting a Chicago writer by buying her book. If you're not local, please buy it to support an artist and free yourself.

Mia's clear, concise advice helps you see how to trust your own writing and how to use feedback to strengthen it. I will be revisiting this book many times. It is truly comforting and inspiring.
