Mr. Smith’s clever use of the first person narrative makes the reader feel as if they have been transported into the nineteenth century and a time during which strong morals, absolute values, loyalty to country, personal courage, and tireless perseverance were more commonplace, yet highly valued. Undoubtedly, readers will be enlightened about the true causes of the War Between the States, and will discover interesting facts concerning the conflict which are little known by those other than scholars. If you are of Southern decent, “Hidden Memories” will make you feel proud to be so. If not, you will gain valuable insights into the mindset of Southerners both then and now. You will want to read this enthralling book twice!

Excellent book! An intriguing story of the journey(s) of a confederate soldier. It is most unique in that although the story itself is fiction, all event times and places are historically factual and accurate. I highly recommend.
