Michael Duane Small a man with a kind heart You will love his book- right from the start Shadows of War- will tear you apart Morning Glory- he gives from his heart I’ll Take A Walk Today -through memory lane Life’s Trials and Tribulations- he writes so plain Each poem tells a story about his life through the years. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading “From The Shadow of My Smile” by Michael Duane Small. In it he shares poems of love, war, and life it-self. In this book Michael travels around the world taking his readers on a journey through blood-sweat- and tears. We know war is not an easy topic to talk about, but Michael leaves us many poems of his experience while serving and helping out his fellow brothers during this time in his life. The memories of blood and bravery he writes from his heart, an experience he will never forget. This is a great book to add to your library. Great poetry from a man’s heart.
Reading this book gives insight first, to an American veteran and his family. He takes you around the world and back and then lends you secrets to myths and legends. You get up close and personal with him as he shares with you as a big truck driver. Small’s world is always open as he gives much commentary throughout the book. His remarkable stories of a war buddy and his death will touch any heart. He has an astonishingly intelligent look on politics and social and economic crisis. This book is not just poetry. It goes far beyond what we expect to read when we start to turn the pages.
