The book starts off a little slow, but certainly picks up after the third chapter. It's short, but worth the price. The story focuses a lot on the survival aspect of things, something that a lot of similar zombie-related titles don't do. The characters and dialogue are probably the best thing in the book, which isn't a terrible thing. Matthew is a great lead character, Jason doesn't get many chances to shine but he definitely has a purpose, Jonathan's character plays an important part throughout the novel, Rachel's character does a lot of development and is a great female lead. Other characters such as Arkin, Rios, Bjorn, Clint, and a few others are well-written, but don't really get a chance to shine. The conversations between every character are also very well-written and easy to relate to. The action in the book is fantastic and a great aspect of it in addition to a slew of emotional character deaths, which will probably be the best part of the novel to some individuals. Hopefully...
