"Daggers and Ink by Michael Taylor" Real people, real teenagers, in places that are still in the news but were already ancient when the boys lived out their adventures. Michael Taylor melds careful research with a lively imagination. This is a book for me (an ancient) as well as my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, to whom I will enthusiastically pass it on. Revealed is "what it was to be boys in Egypt in the Second Century." Set against the timelessness of the Nile and the Pyramids is the venturesomeness and reckless courage of youth. Parents then, as now, could only be amazed at their offspring. They had the good sense to let things happen, and happen they did! I finished the book with one negative feeling: it stopped too soon! I hope Michael Taylor will write a sequel.--- John C. Soltman
