I followed the step by step guide in her book and was well ready for her visit to our school to complete the project. Her visit was memorable and fun! My students still talk about the day and are still collecting bottle caps for new and exciting projects. My first experience with this wonderful book was during the annual art educator's convention, during which I took a workshop all about the concept of reusing materials for sculpture projects! I love recycling in artworks, and Michelle's media was right up my alley. I was so inspired after purchasing Bottlecap Little Bottlecap, that I decided to write a grant and have Michelle come to work with my students directly. They LOVED it, and our resulting installation is a daily reminder of her lasting effect in our students' lives. This is a must-have for any teacher or home schoolin' mamma! Especially inspirational for low-budget programs.
As a retired elementary school art teacher, I heartily endorse this book. My students had tons of fun creating flowers using Michelle's directions (that were very complete and easy to follow). Quite simply Michelle Stitzlein's first book, Bottlecap Little Bottlecap, is marvelous! From the colorful photos to the logical, detailed building steps the book is inspirational as well as instructional. Her safety and building tips were very helpful to me in preparation for doing this with children. Great investment!
