    "Re: Your poems"

"Poetry can be so much more" This review is based only on the preview, but then every poem in a collection should be of utmost quality, perseverance, and insight. So let's cut to the chase. First of all, there were numerous spelling errors in both previewable poems. The author uses "there" instead of "they're" and other elementary mistakes. Poems should be above all free of such basic errors. One reviewer spoke positively of the collection as having a hallmark greeting card feel. Okay, if your only experience of poetry comes from greeting cards, do the world a favor and stop pretending to know something about anything. I don't consider myself T.S. Eliot, but come on. These poems are hallmarky and that's a bad thing. Let's talk about rhyme. Most modern poetry doens't rhyme and if it does, it does so for a reason and not as some trite little recipe. A poem that rhymes "insane" with "brain" shouldn't really exist. Also, think about... More > subject. Don't write about something that's going to turn so easily moralistic like some guy slipping off a wedding ring when some temptress walks into a bar. Don't write about obvious paradoxes that sound like this: "insanity is the most sane you'll get." Save that for a Vin Diesel movie. My best advice for this author is to read some actual poetry. You can't write poems if you don't read 'em. Here are some names: Elizabeth Bishop, W.H. Auden, John Keats, John Ashberry. Also, it bugs me that the author tells us she offers us a unique perspective. That's for us to decide.< Less

"Beautiful & from the heart." From what I previewed, this writer has a familiar style and offers these verses from the heart. I think this book would be relatable to young people of high-school age. Nice job & good luck!

"Your poems" I just read your preview, and found I was very touched by the poems I read. They deal with the realities of life, some with humor, others with grief. These poems are well written and touch the reader deeply. I know I now have to purchase your book!

"Based on the preview..." The preview is terrible. I don't know how this book ranked 30. It seems as if she thumbed through a ryhming dictionary picking out words, and there's many spelling errors as well.
