Miguel Angel Vergara has written an absorbing book which serves as both a quick reference to Maya cosmic facts and it corrects misinformation about the Maya civilization. The book is writen in English and Spanish (the English text is at the front and the Spanish text at the back). He uses simple English to try to covey some complex Maya mysticism. There are photos and drawings. Much of the book describes and explains the detailed meaning of the famous Chichen Itza pyramid of K'uKuulKaan and the Ball court. As a Maya priest who also worked as a director of the Chichen Itza site for four years, Miguel Angel is clearly in a position to have detailed knowledge of what he is talking about. He is not simply sepculating about it. He convincingly sets the record straight and proves that the Ball Court was a highly religious site where initiates transcended their physical limitations. The ball game was symbolic of the transformation. The Ball court was not the scene of barbaric ball games... More > where players were beheaded. In this book, Miguel Angel, a Maya priest and Master Teacher, dispels inaccurate beliefs and reveals the symbolic and relatively unknown sacred knowledge that, until now, he has shared primarily with his students and workshop participants.
