Rather than being an exhaustive manual of military science, “The Art of War” is more a guide to aid the military commander in attaining the correct mindset of a warrior-leader. Many of the teachings appear to contradict one another if compared in isolation, but within the overall context of the work, these are intended, as part of a whole, to guide one into finding the “center.” “Poker According to Sun Tzu” takes a slightly different approach than other books. Rather than presenting commentary on the ancient work and applying it to the game of poker, the work itself has been modified to fit the game, while staying true to the original in terms of style and flow. Where appropriate and acceptable, the text is left as originally translated, presenting truths which, while somewhat esoteric in nature, offer value to one seeking to master the game.
