Methods of Bible Study

ByMilton Jones

This is an age characterized by a glut of information. The sheer volume creates its own propensity to ignorance. Since people cannot assimilate everything, the tendency is to assimilate very little. In no area is this more apparent than with reference to Bible knowledge. Even among people who are cognizant of the fact that their faith is founded in the Scriptures, there is a tendency to ignore serious Bible study. The effects of the ensuing ignorance are far reaching and generally spiritually debilitating. Many churches have seen a significant degeneration of pulpit content as well as a loss of credibility due to compromise with the unbelieving world. Further eroding the much needed interest in disciplined Bible study is a significant ignorance of methods available to Christians who lack formal theological education. It is the purpose of this study to provide tools to equip the saints for the rewarding task of compassing the content and application of Scripture.
