"Blind Faith - Morne du Toit" My first reaction on reading the manuscript of this book, was amazement at the amount of research that Mr du Toit had conducted, and in writing the result of that research, had produced a piece of work that did not read like an academic tome. Even though it is obvious that he is disdainful of the work under discussion, he has empathy with people who have fallen under its spell and offers them his experience of breaking loose from the spell, and ways in which to cope with life without religion. His research stretches from the history of the Bible to scientific explanations of why the stories are not only improbable but impossible and yet people continue to believe in the stories because of 'blind faith'. I would recommend this book to anyone who is questioning their 'blind faith' or anyone who is considering joining a fundamentalist religion that will drag them into the web of 'blind faith'. "Blind Faith" This amount of research that clearly went into this and the emotive style of writing indicates the subject is obviously something the author feels very passionately about. I really enjoyed reading the book and specifically looked forward to the authors witticisms and sarcasm. I found the factual and historical information very interesting however someone who knows the bible better than me would probably have gained more from all the bible quotes used as examples to prove a point. I think the undeniable logic and reasoning in this book would make it VERY hard for any person of faith to read all the way through. So I suppose it is an ironic situation that the people who this book is really aimed at would be the least likely to ever want to read it! A good read which I recommend.
