When young both of her parents worked in a tannery and which she spent many hours exploring,fascinated by the alchemical process that turned the skins of animals into leather and useable products. Living on 150 acres with solar power in the mountains of Australia, her teachers were roadkill and an old Aboriginal man in his late 70's. Between them, skills in skinning, tanning and creating beautiful healing and musical were learnt.Spending time in Alaska cleaning and making rawhide from buffalo, musk ox, reindeer and moose, then making drums and rattles from them, further honed skills in rawhide making and creation.
