"Re: Adinkra (ī'kŏn')-cepts: [concept ikons of the Ashanti Akan of West Africa]" I have received the book, which I was looking forward to reading. Unfortunately it is not what I expected. I was hoping to read something NEW about Adinkra Symbols. I have got all the books in the bibliography, and read all the article mentioned It has just pictures and images from the internet. And some of the interpretations and explanations are very simplistic and misleading. The images are just a re-hash of published work. Poor collages of Adinkra Tattoos. It was a shame there was no way to see what was inside this book, I would not have ordered it had I been able to do so. Very disappointing. A good idea poorly executed. And I cannot return it! Shame

"Re: Re: Adinkra (ī'kŏn')-cepts: [concept ikons of the Ashanti Akan of West Africa]" First of all, thank you for purchasing a copy of the book. I am sorry to have disappointed you with the content, but as i stated in the intro, this work is a non-scholarly excursion into the world of adinkra and the akan people. my plan was to link the development of the symbols to the wider writing system. i would be very grateful if you would let me know the parts that you found 'simplistic and misleading'. most of my information, apart from the few cited sources that i chose reluctantly for the purpose of staying in tune with popular notions, were from several interviews with palace linguists in la Cote d'Ivoire and Manhyia. i welcome a discussion regarding your concerns. Thanks again for purchasing the book in the first place. Nana
