Joanna's Story

Joanna’s story is the story of the earliest Quakers in the new world; the visionary Children of Light, who established Quaker meetings up and down the eastern seaboard 25 years before William Penn arrived in Pennsylvania. It is also the story of one woman who, because of her Quaker faith, was able to live an extraordinary life beyond the boundaries of “such things as belong to women.” She was a farmer’s wife and a mother of six, but she was also an independent woman who traveled to far places to preach her message to the world.
