This book was a powerful and compelling story of a young Chicago girl who somehow seems to have inherited the nightmarish symptoms of trauma through her family who had been exiled to Siberia during WWII. Moving and insightful, her story conveys how the psychological trauma of previous generations can ripple through time. Told in the narrative voice of a young girl, this thesis is an attempt to discover the mysteries of her grandparents' lives and to come to emotional and intellectual grips with the ghosts she has inherited.
