"All the Advantages" In this poetic and beautifully rendered novel, an African-American girl spins a tale of growing up in a white family and measuring the extent of their belief in equality. Set in New York, Vermont, and South Carolina, the reader is taken from the tame 40’s to the wild 60's and the civil rights era. With this Every-African-American Woman dimension, and with ‘all the advantages’ of her white brother and sister, Lasch asks whether our heroine can ever belong anywhere.
