A travel and lifestyle writer with attitude. Nellie is an imaginative and innovative writer.
After a short consultation sat by the pond, nine goldfish nod their approval and Nellie sets off for Ecuador.
Soon after settling in, Nellie begins work at a children’s street project where she encounters, ‘Scary Nun’. Not to be put off by her mythological proportions Nellie tackles her head on.
A very moving and philosophical book...it engages the full range of emotions from tears of sadness to laugh out loud hilarity. It will leave you wanting to pack your suitcase and take the next plane... no matter where it is going.
Nellie tells it like it is...well written, well observed and very very thought provoking.
"Cotopaxi" My friend told me about this book and I recognised Contopaxi as soon as I saw it on the cover. Having climbed it myself a few years ago I naturally wanted to read the book. What a fantastic account of time spent in Ecuador. I recommend this to anyone wanting inspiration to travel and have adventure.
"The Ramblings of an Indian in South America" This is a super book. Anybody who loves adventure travelling will enjoy the trip through this novel. I especially liked the philosophical elements because no journey is complete without some well condidered reflections. Nellie really makes you think - not just about travelling but life's journey.
"The Ramblings of an Indian in South America" This is a very enjoyable book that really held my interest from start to finish, largely due to Nellie’s vivid descriptions of the people and places. I particularly enjoyed the parts about her time working in the Children’s Street Project, which are at times humorous and at other times very moving. I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially those who love to travel and those who have ever dreamed about leaving the rat race behind and taking off on an adventure.
"The Ramblings of an Indian in South America" I read this book while lounging on the beach in Mexico and then on concluding matters on the flight back to Chicago. I actually put away my other book to continue with this gentle, yet intriguing read from an author who has many talents and a bright writing future ahead of her. The narrative is easy on the mind and flows smoothly through the pages. This enables the reader to remain focused on the concise detail that is playing out. This is my first book that I've finished within a 24-hour period. Excellent.
"The Ramblings of an Indian in South America" A fabulous read! From a contemplative moment by the side of the pond to a multi-faceted adventure on the other side of ‘the pond’ we follow a journey both of body and mind. Before long you feel a part of the voyage. I normally enjoy the diary style novel as you can pick it up, read just a day or two in a few spare moments, put it down again and come back for more when you have time, maybe weeks later. However, this time I felt I had to go on and find out what happened tomorrow! The author, involves you in her day to day life adventure. It’s not often that a book gives you the sensation that you were really there, the characters becoming a part of your life! But I felt I personally knew the characters and had lived the experiences first hand. I wonder where the author is now and what she is doing. I eagerly await the next instalment of her travels to see the long-term impact of her expedition of discovery.
