As a work colleague of Neville's I am aware of the problems he and his family have suffered over the years. Reading his story has opened my eyes to the extensive problems of having an alcoholic in the family. His story is very sad but tinged with humour which enables him to carry on supporting his wife and children. It does demonstrate how difficult it is to carry on without help from the wider family and the closure of some of the organisations just makes things worse. Hopefully his story will inspire other people to continue the battle.

I worked with Neville for a number of years and meet up with him a number of times a year. I have been aware of some of the issues that he and his children had encountered supporting his wifes addiction, however I realise after reading his book I didn't know half of the story. Fortunately, I have never had to deal with any of the issues and events Neville describes but it has provided me with an insight into the journey that Neville, his wife and children have been on and remain on over many years. Hopefully Nevilles story will provide some support to other individuals that are in a similar position and to realise they are not alone and there is support out there.
