MHQ Ten Year Index

The first issue of Military History Quarterly (MHQ) was published in Autumn of 1988. A new volume number was assigned each year, and the issues were numbered 1 through 4. Typically an issue contained 12-15 articles and was 100 to 120 pages in length. It was not uncommon for each issue to contain at least one article by leading military historians and authors such as Stephen Ambrose, James McPhereson and Stephen Sears. All of the articles were exceptionally well researched and documented, such that one would expect to see frequent reference to these articles in best selling books. That this was not the case was due primarily to the lack of a suitable index of the articles and topics, such that reference material could be readily identified and traced to a specific issue. This Index addresses the 40 MHQ issues which the author added to his library during the first ten years of publication. Hopefully it will be of use to present day authors and MHQ readers.
