"It Take Two" This is one of the best books on middle market M&A that I have come across. Very detailed yet understandable to a business owner without a lot of background in corporate finance and accounting. Great for a business owner who is contemplating an exit strategy.
"It Takes Two - Selling to Institutional Investors" This book is a straight forward basic description of the M&A process. The tables, charts and examples make even the more esoteric aspects of each step in the procedure understandable. I would recommend it to any middle market business owner who is considering an exit strategy
