BOTH VOLUMES ARE BEAUTIFUL. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH. I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH THEM OVER AND OVER. EACH TIME I SEE AND LEARN SOMETHING NEW. THE CONVERSATIONS THAT NO SWEAT HAS WITH BILLIONAIRE JOHN D. MACARTHUR AND ARLO GUTHRIE ARE HILARIOUS AND FILLED WITH DARK HUMOR. I ESPECIALLY LOVED THE PROSE DISPLAYED BY NO SWEAT WHEN SPEARING AND OBSERVING MANGROVE SNAPPERS. VERY BEAUTIFUL. NO SWEAT HAS A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY. AND HIS FRIEND IN THIS BOOK, LUISA LANG, IS ALSO BEAUTIFUL. I WAS SHOCKED TO READ THE INTIMATE DETAILS IN WHICH NO SWEAT DESCRIBED ON THE DAY SHE COMMITTED SUICIDE. I HAVE SPENT MUCH OF MY LIFE IN SOUTHERN FLORIDA AND THIS IS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ WHICH CAPTURES MY HOME.

The two volumes were expensive. But it was worth every cent. My family has loved the two volumes as much as me. And now my brother and his family are looking at the volumes. There is so much to see and learn. Congratulations to NO SWEAT on a job well done. I know this book had to have taken many years to create. It shows. These two volumes bring my family back to Singer Island. I never knew all of its history in the way NO SWEAT has shown. My family stayed a month at the old Colonnades Beach Hotel in 1977. No Sweat has brought it all back to life for me. I met John D, MacArthur while there and No Sweat has captured him perfectly.

Both volumes to SINGER ISLAND AND ERNEST HEMINGWAY are "GOLD." I loved all the color photographs and No Sweat's 60 year memoir. He is certainly the writer. par excellence. I loved the whole story about Luisa Lang and her father, Will Lang, the WW2 LIFE magazine war correspondent. And I loved reading abut Ernest Hemingway. I never knew that Hemingway's fourth wife was introduced to him by her old boyfriend, Will Lang. And it was interesting to note how Mary Hemingway remained close to Will Lang even after Hemingway shot himself. It was very touching to read of No Sweat's experience when describing the day he was with Luisa Lang as she committed suicide. I loved the WW2 novel which No Sweat finished for Will Lang and I liked the diary which Will Lang kept while he was living in Paris, France. I especially enjoyed the two year journal which No Sweat wrote as he was staying at The Colonnades Beach Hotel on Singer Island, Florida; and all about his friendship with John D.... More > MacArthur--then, the richest man in the USA. I found No Sweat's photographs of him at Rose Kennedy's home in Palm Beach most interesting and loved the stories which he told while being there. As a person who has always loved the ocean--I cannot say enough about this book. No Sweat has captured the Gulf Stream unlike any author I have ever read--even better than Hemingway. People who are in love with the ocean are different from the land lovers and No Sweat, in his own eloquent words, has shown this. I love these two volumes and promise anyone who buys them that will , too. They are great. No Sweat is such an easy writer to read and is incredible in the way he can change up his wordsmith and do what he feels is best to convey a story in the way it should be told. I am now going to search for any books also written by No Sweat. He has me hooked!< Less

First, let me say that I love the front and back covers of both volumes to SINGER ISLAND AND ERNEST HEMINGWAY. Not only the covers but also every page in between them. It was fun learning the history of No Sweat's adventures on the island as well as the island itself. I thoroughly found myself enthralled with Will and Luisa Lang and their relationship to Ernest Hemingway. I am sure all this new information on Hemingway is going to be of great interest to the Hemingway readers. Most of all, I love the ocean, and this book really is all about No Sweat's love of the water which he shares in a way that is contagious. I cannot say enough about all the great many color photographs which I have studied. So many of them help give these two volumes an added depth that I rarely find in any book. In fact, I have never owned two volumes of work anything like these. The price for the two volumes was a little high, I first thought. But now that I have them I can say it is the best money I ever... More > spent for books. It is remarkable how No Sweat has managed to weave so many stories together. His voice and love of life kept coming through even during the saddest moments such as the loss of his best friend and his mother. I am anxious to buy more books by NO Sweat and will be on the net looking for him. He is a gifted story teller that touched my heart. I simply loved these two volumes. It was a true story of a small boy who has grown into an author who gives us so many wonderful secrets. You can't help but find the book fascinating.< Less

I have now read both volumes I and II of SINGER ISLAND and ERNEST HEMINGWAY By No Sweat two times, some 1,000 pages. I have never been more entertained by a book in my life. No Sweat is a natural born story-teller and writes with an ease as if he were talking directly to me. I have loved every page of these volumes and cannot wait to get the third volume. My family and I stayed at the Colonnades Beach Hotel on Singer Island two different summers and I think we met No Sweat while there. I doubt that he still remembers me but he once took me snorkeling with him through the Palm Beach Inlet. I cannot brag enough about all the many beautiful photographs throughout the book, especially the front and back covers of both volumes. No Sweat's experiences on Singer Island have been remarkable and we are all fortunate that he has written them down for us to cherish. With all the photographs he has of the Colonnades and his friend, John D. MacArthur, it made the old place once again come alive.... More > No Sweat is a gifted author and has puzzled together nothing short of a masterpiece.< Less
