Telling the Whole Story: Voices of Ethnic Volunteers in America
covers the how and why of community engagement in seven US ethnic groups—African American, American Indian, Central American, Chinese American, Japanese American, Korean American, and Mexican American communities. The story is told in the voices of people from these communities. An analysis follows of common themes heard among these ethnic groups. The aim is to tell a very interesting and often unheard set of stories from dozens of ethnic volunteers and to help established institutions—nonprofit organizations, foundations, public sector programs—better understand the cultures, interests and preferences of ethnic volunteers in order to better engage everyone in their work, meet their missions, and serve their communities.
