Great fun: brilliant drawings and a witty text - a good story that is funny and up-to-date. My grandchildren love it.

A hugely enjoyable read which had me crying with laughter in several places. Oliver Young's first book is an uproarious, fast-paced adventure about two giant single-celled organisms who are on the run from a power crazed professor. It is beautifully and cleverly illustrated and is crammed full of verbal and visual humour which should appeal to adults and children alike. He has created a number of memorable characters including the maniacal, power-crazed Professor Bender (armed with a range of terrifying inventions),the hilarious henchvegetables (just look at that angry radish and try not to laugh!), gung-ho pizza man Pete, and not least Amoeba Joe himself who has the enviable ability to transform himself into any shape and slip through any gap. Oliver Young is surely a worthy natural successor to such great comic geniuses as Herge, who wrote Tintin, and Goscinny and Uderzo, the creators of Asterix and Obelix. He also reminds me slightly of Raymond Briggs, with the warmth and charm of... More > his humour and his wonderfully crafted illustrations. This book is a gem.< Less
